Summer (Detail) Lovin’

Summer (and wedding season) is in full swing! And while the lovely Los Angeles weather may misguide you into thinking warm weather details are possible year-round, there are certain summer-specific details that really are best during June, July and August. Below I have detailed my favorite elements that would be perfect for your summer celebration.

1. Bright Bouquets

My favorite summery bouquets have one common element: COLOR. For events during this season, I work with the florist to create bouquets with bright pops of color with layered texturing to produce unique, handpicked floral designs. My summertime essentials include wildflowers, mixed greenery, braches, berries, etc.

2. Table Details

The inspiration to the tablescape design can be connected to your bright and summery bouquet – bright color, berries, greenery, etc. In creating beautifully detailed tabletops, I focus primarily on layering. There should be a coordination of coloring from the place setting to the floral design, with pops of your bright and summery colors throughout the flow.

3. Summer Citrus

One way to include sunny colors into your wedding design is through the use of fresh citrus. Halved lemons provide a natural and vibrant accent to cakes, tabletops, or signature cocktails – and they provide a lovely fragrance!

4. Wood Accents + Natural Detailing

Summertime weather means outdoor weddings. With outdoor events, I love to weave natural elements throughout the design that gather inspiration from the surrounding area. Exposed wood tables instantly add a natural tone that accomplishes just this. A bare table leaves room for intricate texturing of both place settings and floral designs. Some of my favorite natural details that add character to alfresco dining are gemstones, copper, agate, and bamboo chairs – just to name a few.

5. Fresh Fruit

On a hot summer day, nothing sounds better than a bowl of fresh fruit. Seasonal fruits are not only a fun (and edible) way to include natural details into your table design or cake décor, but are also eco-friendly!

Summer is far from over, so there is still plenty of time to sneak some of these details into your design – how will you make the most of your summertime wedding?
